I started my apprenticeship in September 2008 and got licensed in September 2009. Throughout my career, I have always tattooed in the downtown Nashville area.I have drawn all my life and I wanted to pick up a job that required art. Tattooing caught my eye at the age of 12. My cousin’s wife, who has modeled for a few tattoo magazines due to her work, inspired much of my desire to tattoo. I remember trying to replicate tattoos out of magazines.

Can you elaborate on that a little more?

A buddy of mine that I grew up with got an apprenticeship in Clarksville, TN. That same guy had a shop in Nashville and after meeting the owner, he enjoyed my art and personality enough that he offered me a job. I owe the most to my mentor, Jay Quarles, who tattoos in Nashville as well.

Are there any tattoo styles that you prefer to do or excel in?

I have always been around realism and gray wash because of my mentor’s, Jay Quarles, talent in portraits. After gaining my own confidence, I myself have decided to focus on a more traditional approach and have continued to modify it into a neo-traditional style. Realism and gray wash continue to be my foundation. Script has also become a huge practice of mine.
